This bag not only revolutionized style but was also the first to feature a shoulder strap, making it significantly more convenient to carry. Following its launch, wearing a bag over the shoulder quickly became a symbol of social status among women.Chanel released its first handbag in 1929. While the early designs included a flap, it wasn’t until 1955 that the brand fully embraced the practicality of a strap. This led to the rise of the now-iconic Double Flap Bag.With Karl Lagerfeld’s influence in the early 1980s, the 2.55 model underwent a transformation. The subtle Mademoiselle lock was replaced by the bold CC turn-lock, cementing the Classic Flap Bag’s legendary status. Featuring 24K gold-plated hardware known for its durability, the bag was produced in various sizes and, depending on the dimensions, came in either a single or double flap. However, single-flap versions are no longer in production today. While the lining was originally designed in classic burgundy, modern variations of the bag now come in a wide range of colors and signature materials, including Chanel’s iconic tweed.
